Cyberpunk Crow - Providence R.T.C.

I made this crow for my creature design class at SNHU. I had to design and create a creature to fit into a notional game-concept. In this case it was for a cyberpunk inspired game. The prompt for the class was to come up with the backstory, concept art, the character sheet, make the low poly and high poly model and create the turntable. Additionally I rigged and posed the bird as well as created a laser scanner to show off its in-game ability. The added challenge for myself here was the hair-cards, or in this case feather-cards. I ended up making them from scratch as my first attempt at making feathers. I also made heavy use of the hair particle system in blender to get the feathers right for the body which was then baked on. The final game-ready model came in at 8814 tris.

the character sheet had a different mechanism for the wing hinge. I ended up changing this on the model form a cylinder to a ball joint to provide greater freedom of motion.

The original concepts I came up with. I ended up combining elements from the last 2.
