Dangerously Fancy Cactus

This little guy was made during my intro to sculpting class and was merely a practice object, but he turned out awesome and I would love to do something more with it.

The task was to create a model of our choice that had hard and organic surfaces so we can learn the difference in sculpting. We started with creating the concept on paper and created a low poly model, high poly sculpt in mudbox, and finally baked and textured it in substance painter. Lastly we were tasked to import the model into a game engine of choice and create a presentation slide.

The needles and flowery/hairy bits are made up of polygon cards to keep the polys down but it turned out pretty good.

this is the 3d Concept I created on paper. Originally it did not include spikes or flowers on the arms. It was later added through feedback from the teacher and other students to increase the challenge and grow though team work.
